1. Ninja Foodi FlexDrawer Air Fryer 10.4L

The best Ninja air fryer out there

Specifications

Size: 32.7 x 49.6 x 31.6cm

Capacity: 10.4 litres or 2 x 5.2 litres

Programs: Max crisp, air fry, roast, bake, reheat, dehydrate, prove

Reasons to buy

+

Unbeatable versatility thanks to the design

+

Perfect for family cooking

+

No need to preheat

+

Effortless to use

We think this is Ninja's best innovation yet, with the ability to switch two drawers into one at the drop of a hat. That means that you can use the cavernous 10.4-litre single space for cooking family-sized meals or cuts of meat, and switch to the two drawer system for when you want to cook different things at various temperatures.

Our tester proved this true when she took the Ninja FlexDrawer for a spin, using it to cook a 2kg leg of lamb, various fried foods and even an entire loaf cake. It's much quicker than a standard oven, easy to use, and a super high max temperature (of 240C). After using this air fryer, you'll find that your built-in oven will feel more and more redundant.

Though it's mighty, this is an expensive buy, coming in at £269.99. It has the power to do it all in your kitchen, however, so we think it's worth it if that's what you're looking for.

Unless you've been living under an air-fryer-proofed rock, you'll have heard of the Ninja Dual Zone Air Fryer. This has been the air fryer of the last few years and for good reason, with the space and power to make family cooking much easier.

In short, you can cook two different foods in two different ways (pick from six functions including the ability to bake) at the same time, and then sync them up to finish at the exact right moment so that everything will arrive at the table still hot. What that allows you to do in reality is to experiment with a range of different food types at home that you might not have even imagined yet, such as dehydrated fruit snacks or a lemon drizzle cake.

Our expert tester thinks this is 'one of the best ever' air fryers. She loved just how high the temperature could be set - up to 240 degrees, a feature which makes it so versatile due to the type of things you can cook up. She also found that it was a standout winner for crisping up potato wedges and other fried favourites.

While it might be too hefty for smaller kitchens, this air fryer is a real all-rounder, with controls so easy that your grandmother and your kids could use it. I would say that you can achieve four portions with ease in this air fryer, but it's also a fine choice for fewer people thanks to its energy efficiency. This is the air fryer you should opt for if you can stretch your budget and the one that will make even reluctant cooks more excited about cooking dinner for an evening.

The best small Ninja air fryer

Specifications

Size : H30.5 x W 28 x D 36cm

Capacity : 6.2 litres

Programs : Air fry, max crisp, roast, bake, reheat, dehydrate.

Reasons to buy

+

Perfectly petite design for small kitchens

+

Deceptively spacious

+

Excellent cooking ability

Reasons to avoid

-

Won't be quite big enough for families to use everyday

The Ninja MAX PRO sounds like a hefty appliance, but it is in fact the brand's most space-saving offering, with a compact square design that will make small kitchen owners rejoice. And even though it's small in terms of dimensions, it's pretty roomy regarding capacity comparisons with the Ninja AF100UK, which makes it an all-round winner in our book.

The smaller size is the real unique selling point of this air fryer, but it's also got all of the functionality of our bigger favourites too, including simply excellent cooking power and dishwasher safe parts. Our expert tester, who has a smaller kitchen herself, is sold on this as her favourite Ninja design yet. And it was still big enough for her to roast a small 1.5kg chicken, which is impressive.

The only thing that this air fryer is missing is a preheat setting, and it also lacks a shake reminder halfway through the cooking time. If you can live without those, and you need something small, then this is the compact Ninja for you.

4. Ninja Foodi 10-in-1 Multifunction Oven DT200UK

The best Ninja air fryer oven

Specifications

Size : 33.5 x 43.5 x 50.5cm

Capacity : holds 1.8kg of air fired ingredients, space for a 12" pizza, roast rack holds 5.5kg

Programs: Air fry, roast, whole roast, grill, bake, pizza, dehydrate, reheat

Reasons to buy

+

Roomier and more functional than most air fryers

+

Fantastic cooking ability and versatility, especially with the presets

+

Couldn't be better for large families

Reasons to avoid

-

Quite pricey, and very bulky

-

Accessories need to be hand washed

We think that in the debate of countertop ovens vs air fryers, the former deserves a little more attention. This Ninja Multifunction Oven is a perfect example of why, with our tester saying that it has unbeatable versatility, and that it is 'roomier than virtually all air fryers, with more functionality than most ovens'. High praise indeed!

So what can this oven do? Everything essentially, including toast bagels, roast veggies, cook an entire chicken and help to master the art of homemade pizza. Our tester was seriously impressed with all of the functions, stating it was the most impressive of its kind she's tried, with temperatures to carry out all of those tasks in extremely efficient times.

Her quibbles with this air fryer were that it's pretty large, but if you need it for family cooking then that's a price you'll be expecting to pay. She found that the exterior can also get pretty hot at times. On the whole however, it's by far the best Ninja air fryer to opt for if you want to try out a countertop oven.

5. Ninja AF100UK Air Fryer

The best Ninja for smaller homes

Specifications

Size: 36 x 25 x 32cm

Capacity: 3.8 litre

Programs: Air fry, roast, reheat, dehydrate

Reasons to buy

+

Simple to use

+

Compact footprint

+

Dishwasher safe

+

Recipes and cooking charts included

+

Great performance

Reasons to avoid

-

Expensive for size

-

No automatic preheat

The Ninja AF100UK Air Fryer is Ninja's cheapest air fryer, and it's also the smallest. It has a cooking capacity of 3.8 litres and a circular basket, which will be fine with most meals for single or two-person households. During testing the air fryer was fast, easy to use, and comes with four pre-sets that won't be too overwhelming for first-time air fryer users.

You can choose to air fry, roast, reheat and dehydrate in this air fryer, and because the basket insert can be removed, you can also reheat or cook food that has a bit more sauce or moisture without having to worry about it dripping through the grates. The exterior is simple, small, and grey, which may not be the most attractive addition to your kitchen but it will be very easy to store if you want to put it in a cupboard.

Those who need meals in a hurry should snap up the Ninja AF100UK, as cooking times with this air fryer were brilliant, with some of the speediest chips we've made. It's a simple model with a reasonable price tag of £129.99 too, making it a little more feasible for those on a budget.
