We have an opening for a Central Clearance Section Supervisor. The Section Supervisor will coordinate the day-to-day workflow and activities of the Grants/Terminations, Classified Visitor Control, Preliminary Background Investigations, Non-employee processing and Foreign Ownership, Control or Influence (FOCI). This position works directly with internal and external customers, the Protocol Office, Director’s Office personnel, and other organizations to ensure timely and effective execution of work unit activities. This position has a high consequence of error as actions could provide an individual access to the site to include limited areas and/or classified items. This position is in the Security Organization.

Pay Range

$89,670 - $111,324 Annual (J01.2)

Job Description

  • Administer and oversee processing of four main components of the Information & Personnel Security’s Central Clearance group to include: Classified Visitor Control, Preliminary Background Investigations, Security Clearance grants and terminations and FOCI.
  • Serve as a general resource to LLNLemployees on interpretation and training of Central Clearance procedures, resolve day-to-day security related issues/questions.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity is maintained with proper data entry into the relevantdatabases and prepare administrative and statistical reports for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain the content of the central clearance policy and procedure documents, and internal website.
  • Analyze interpret and apply knowledge of security policies, procedures, methods, and practices to ensure work is conducted in compliance with Department of Energy (DOE) Security Orders and LLNL policies and procedures; provide input to the development and revision of day-to-day practices.
  • Participate in self-assessments and audits as needed; compile data and reports findings to management and collaborate on solutions; initiate corrective actions.
  • Supervise administrative employees within the Central Clearance office including coordinating workloads, performance management, training, and safety and security compliance.
  • Prepare metrics and reports ensuring monthly reporting deadlines are met with accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a United States (U.S.) DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in security or related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience protecting highly sensitive information while adhering to, and applying DOE or similar formal policies, principles, regulatory requirements, processes, and systems for a specific area, possibly within a specific security discipline.
  • Experience leading customer-focused operations with advanced customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills necessary to maintain effective customer service standards and effective working relations with Laboratory employees and external organizations.
  • Experience preparing reports and participating in internal and external audits.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills necessary to gather, clarify and recommend solutions to non-routine security-related problems having Lab-wide impact.
  • Experience developing, delivering, and maintaining clear and concise policies, procedures, training materials and reports.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Experience tracking, compiling, and monitoring data and results.

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
