  • Personal Development: Self and Work
  • Preparing for work
  • Developing skills for employment

Each unit individually entitles the student to an SQA award.

How will I study my course?

  • Part Time

You will join a class at college or at your local learning centre and learn through lecturer input, group discussions and practical exercises. You will be expected to do some study at home each week.

Part-time course available at Shetland UHI and selected learning centres.

What can I do on completion of my course?

Academic: You could progress to further study on a range of National Certificate (NC) or Higher National Certificate (HNC) programmes and SVQs.


Employment/Career: This course provides you with required skills and confidence to successfully apply for and gain employment.


Former students have: Been successful in obtaining employment and undertaking apprenticeships as well as progressing on to study other courses at Shetland UHI and other institutions.
