Some handy tips and hints to keep your Bialetti in full working order.
My Bialetti leaks water or steam out the side
- Check the seal and replace if worn.
- Ensure the top of the water chamber and the rubber seal are clean and free from coffee grounds.
- Ensure the coffee maker is firmly screwed together.
- Test by boiling a pot with just water (no coffee) to make sure the filter and funnel are clear.

The coffee does not come up to the top
- Check filter plate is clean and clear of debris. Replace if worn.
- Ensure the coffee grinds arenot packed into the funnel as this hinders the flow of the water.
- Test by boiling a pot with just water (no coffee) to make sure the filter and funnel are clear.

The inside of my coffee maker has gone a white colour
- This usually happens when the coffee maker is not dried properly, causing the aluminium to oxidize. To clean the inside, use a dish brush and diluted warm water with vinegar, and dry thoroughly before storing. If you can, store the pot in pieces to allow air to circulate.
I’ve burnt the base of my coffee maker
- This usually happens when you place the coffee maker on the stove without water in the base, or if you leave it on the heat once it has finished boiling. Unfortunately if your coffee maker has been burnt the only option is to replace it, you will compromise the integrity of the metal if you continue to use it and it will taint the taste of the coffee.
The handle has broken
- Usually the result of using the handle as a lever to open or close the coffee maker. Remember to wait for the coffeemaker to cool down and then open by grasping the top and bottom sections and twisting.
