e487I will not provide further personal information, but year 1, of course, is the hardest.
format:
- what year you're in now (or if you have your PhD, where you work: e.g., top 50 liberal arts, world bank, private)
- are you currently on the job market?
- finally, which year was the hardest?Economist
35eaI'm on the job market. The 1st, 3rd or 4th and job market years are hard in different ways. The first year is the hardest in terms of material, a lot of people (including myself) hit a point their 3rd or 4th year that is psychologically hard to get through because it seems uncertain if any of your ideas will ever come through. In the job market year, it's hard throwing your fate out and waiting. But during the job market, it's easier to adjust your attitude to overcome it than it is in the 3rd or 4th year hump.
