"For the first time in at least a decade, new billionaires from inheritance outnumber the self-made."If this surprises you, it shouldn't. The gap continues to widen. Too many are consuming while very few are creating. You can close the gap and change the statistics. Your common knowledge is someone’s business idea.- Surround yourself with people who succeed and who help you succeed- Set growth challenges for yourself - Clarify your goals and values - View mistakes as feedback- Establish a healthy routine- Think long term- Gain experience - Start Just a reminder that the people that are ahead of you are the people that started.

"Succession" series' 3 Key Business Lessons - I loved the wit, insight, and and drama of the "Succession" series on HBO. The series ended this past Sunday without (spoiler alert) the succession that the Roy children hoped for. Although a Hollywood series - with it's "all successful businesses bad" view - it still gave 3 key business lessons for us. Of course, there were many other lessons one could obtain from this brilliant series.Business Lesson #1., Adapt or Die - A social media company ended up buying (with plans of gutting) the media and entertainment company in "Succession". The old media company waited too long to improve its social media presence by buying the right company and talent. Yes, adapting can be difficult and stressful - but so is going into a slow death spiral.Business Lesson #2., No One is Owed Anything - One's family name or even past success doesn't mean they are owed the leader's role. The three "Succession" children thought this was the case (false logic based on their emotions). Instead, the new CEO was chosen because he would follow the new owner's desire to be merciless with gutting the company. This feeling of being owed is seen a lot with politics.Business Lesson #3., Taking Political Sides can Hurt as Much and Help a Company - The Succession company's news division was a one-sided view of the evil and self-danger of taking extreme political sides. Recently, Bud Light, Target, and Kohls have experienced similar backlash. The clear reason is that the 24/7 social media draws out these actions, and inflames about half the population. This hurts revenues and market caps. #business #socialmedia #ceo #talent #entertainment #succession #money #balance #joy
