Mission Statement:

My mission and vision for myself as a professional nurse is to provide patient-focused care for the whole person, considering their physical, mental, and emotional health. I vow to be a lifelong learner, an advocate for my patients, and a nurse who inspires hope in those that I am caring for. I will always act with the core values of respect, honesty, integrity, and empathy.

Acting by this mission statement will allow me to provide the best possible care for my patients. Collaboration and transparency with my patients will allow me to achieve patient-centered care, which will lead to the best outcomes for them. My motivation to go into nursing was strongly inspired by the role of the nurse as an advocate. I love the possibility of forming strong nurse-patient relationships and being the light in a patient's most vulnerable time.

I plan to practice in this manner throughout my career as a nurse. My short-term goal is to graduate from Texas A&M University's School of Nursing in May of 2024 and become a registered nurse after passing the NCLEX-RN. In July, I will begin my career as a labor and delivery nurse resident. My long-term goals consist of eventually becoming a preceptor on my unit to educate nursing students and new graduate nurses. Eventually, I plan to return to school to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing and become a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner.

Philosophy:

My nursing philosophy is one that views a nurse not only as a caregiver, but also as a patient advocate, a healthcare educator, and a strong influence on a patient's healthcare experience. Nursing is a science AND an art. Nurses have the privilege to care for patients on some of the best and worst days of their lives. Nurses get to treat the patient's physical condition, but they also take their mental, emotional, and spiritual health into consideration. Nursing is a profession that can promote holistic healing, viewing the patient as a whole person rather than simply their diagnosis.
