Roll On Lip Gloss Recipe with Essential Oils (2024)

This roll on lip gloss recipe is made with essential oils and several carrier oils. It starts working immediately and helps moisturize and soften your lips for hours.

I love making lip balm because it's a fairly easy DIY recipe with ingredients that I always have on hand. It does require that you melt beeswax, and sometimes I want something quicker. I am still adjusting to our new routine this semester, so I didn't have a lot of time this week to get out all of my supplies.

I have some roller bottles, so I decided to make a lip gloss recipe with carrier oils in that. I'm glad I did because it worked really well, and it literally just takes a few minutes.

You can customize this recipe to fit your needs and the oils you have on hand. I used four oils because each one has properties that I wanted. You could use any carrier oil for the base and add essential oils as desired.

For this recipe, I chose four of my favorite oils for the skin. Each oil does something a little different for your lips, but when combined...they are amazing!

This easy roll on lip gloss recipe has an oil that penetrates the skin quickly for immediate relief. It also has an oil that takes longer to absorb, which helps keeps your lips moisturized for hours.

How Do You Make a Roll on Lip Gloss?

If you love lip gloss, don't worry, it's very easy to make. You'll need some carrier oils and a roller bottle.

Can You Use Essential Oil in Lip Gloss?

Yes, you can use essential oils in lip gloss. Since the base is an oil, the essential oils will be diluted.

For a 10ml roller bottle, use 2 drops for a 1 percent dilution and 5-6 drops for a 3 percent dilution. I like to stay between 2 and 4 since the lips are sensitive.

Good oils to try are:

Can You Use Glycerin In Lip Gloss?

Yes, you can. I don't add it, but you can substitute one of the oils for glycerin. It will thicken your lip gloss, but the jojoba oil is fairly thick. Just be sure to use a vegetable glycerin that is cold pressed and chemical free.

What Makes Lip Gloss Sticky?

Few things are as annoying as your hair sticking to your lips after you apply lip gloss. Polybutene and polyisobutene and to a lesser degree glycerin are what makes lip gloss sticky.

Since you won't use either of them for this roll on lip gloss recipe, you won't have to worry about them!

JOJOBA OIL

JojobaRoll On Lip Gloss Recipe with Essential Oils (6)oil is a wax more than an oil. It's thick, so it forms a barrier on top of your lips to trap in moisture to keep your lips soft.

VITAMIN E OIL

Vitamin ERoll On Lip Gloss Recipe with Essential Oils (7)Roll On Lip Gloss Recipe with Essential Oils (8) is high in antioxidants for anti-aging. It also helps soften skin and acts as a natural preservative to keep the recipe fresh longer.

Not all vitamin E oils are created equally. I like the Crafty Bubbles vitamin E oil. I tried other brands, but they were watery. This is super thick and works great in my DIY beauty products.

AVOCADO OIL

Avocado oilRoll On Lip Gloss Recipe with Essential Oils (10)Roll On Lip Gloss Recipe with Essential Oils (11) doesn't penetrate the skin as easily as other oils, so it's good for staying power. It helps moisturize your lips long after you apply the roll on lip gloss recipe.

GRAPESEED OIL

GrapeseedRoll On Lip Gloss Recipe with Essential Oils (12) is a light oil. It has small molecules, so it penetrates the skin quickly for quicker relief.

In this recipe, the grapeseed oil acts first for immediate relief. It is a great moisturizer, but it doesn't last long. The avocado oil takes longer to penetrate the skin, so it keeps working for hours after you apply this roll on lip gloss recipe with essential oils.

Finally, the jojoba oil helps form a barrier, which keeps the oils locked in place so they can protect your skin longer.

I use Crafty Bubbles carrier oils. You can find some on Amazon, but they are all available from Bolek's.

This recipe isn't an exact recipe. You can use more or less of any of the oils. I usually use a bit more jojoba oil than the other ingredients and a bit less vitamin E oil.

Roll On Lip Gloss Recipe with Essential Oils (13)

I think an oil infused with chamomileRoll On Lip Gloss Recipe with Essential Oils (14), calendulaRoll On Lip Gloss Recipe with Essential Oils (15), or plantain Roll On Lip Gloss Recipe with Essential Oils (16)would be perfect for this recipe. If you have some leftover from another recipe, I would use that in place of the grapeseed oil or avocado oil.

I made the recipe right in the roller bottle. If you don't have the bottle or want to make several of these, you can combine the oils in a bowl and use a small funnel to fill each bottle.

Try these essential oils for your roll on lip gloss recipe. Use as many drops of oils as you'd like up to 20 drops per 10mL bottle, and always confirm that the essential oil that you use is lip safe and doesn't increase your sensitivity to light so your lips don't get burnt.
